Manufacturing Advisory Service provide BenchmarkIndex®

The West Midlands Manufacturing Service (WMMC) has adopted BenchmarkIndex® (BI) as a key element of a new Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) offer.   The service will support transformational change in manufacturing businesses to help them achieve significant growth and strategic change.

The MAS service was established by the Department of Trade and Industry (now Department of Business Innovation and Skills) in 2002 and has helped tens of thousands of businesses in England over the years since, adding significantly to the national GDP.  It has delivered these excellent results through a range of support service, helping businesses to overcome a wide variety of manufacturing issues and barriers to growth.

Winning Moves has developed a customised version of the BI service for MAS to use in the West Midlands, North West and North East of England, and trained a around 25 MAS Advisers.   This very practical grounding in the service will enable them to generate the maximum possible benefit from the powerful process.

Clamason Industries Ltd have recently been one of the first participants of the benchmarking service.  Their Managing Director Philip Clarke commented that it “…has given us statistically backed feedback about how we compare to other businesses in our market sector.  Business is all about competition, for new customers and contracts, for the best recruits, for finite resources like finance, and knowing where you stand in a competition is invaluable.  The latest BenchmarkIndex® which we recently completed will be the basis for another set of Improvement Plans to further strengthen the business in a balanced way.”

John Sandford, Finance Director of Automotive Trim Developments Ltd (ATD) in Coventry also commented on the power of the service, saying it “…produced a very useful report that highlighted around 70 KPI’s, several of which we intend to include in our future performance reports”
